Daniel E. Legg was born October 18, 1951, in Smith Center, KS to Merwin & Lyla (Noffsinger) Legg. He passed away on November 22, 2023, in Abilene, KS.
He attended Osborne County schools and graduated from Osborne High School in 1969. Also, he attended NCK Vo-Tech in Beloit for 2 years, in Heavy Equipment.
Dan was united in marriage to Kathy LaRosh in 1977, in which two daughters were born, Angela and Melissa. They later divorced. He married Janet (Jan) Waite in 1987, along with her two children, Jarad and Carrie.
From youth through adulthood, he was involved with horses. He was a member of the Penn 4H, horses always his project. He was also a member of the Kansas Western Horseman's Association, serving at one time as a board member.
Another very strong enjoyment of his was hunting. From quail, pheasant, turkey and deer. His most interesting and laughable stories came from coyote hunting.
Dan worked for the Osborne County Highway Department, Red Cloud Concrete, and owned and operated a welding shop in Osborne.
In 2001, Dan and Jan moved to Clay County, KS where he worked for the Clay County Highway Department, retiring in 2019.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Jan of the home, his sister Beverly, daughters Angie Legg and Melissa Becker, stepchildren Jarad Waite and Carrie Reece, 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
