Daniel L. Lloyd

Daniel L. Lloyd, 64 of Aledo, died Friday, January 6, 2017 at Genesis Medical Center, Aledo. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 3 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Mercer County 4-H Foundation Scholarship or to Mercer County FFA. Daniel Louis was born on November 23, 1952 in Aledo, Illinois to Louis W. & Eleanor P. (Morris) Lloyd. He was a 1970 graduate of Aledo High School, and graduated from Black Hawk East College, before coming home to farm in Mercer County. He married Dawn Attig on November 19, 1977 in Hamlet, Illinois. Dan was an active community member. He was on the board of directors for the Mercer County Farm Bureau, currently Treasurer; Svea Mutual Insurance; and a Mercer Township Trustee. He was a member of the Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church. Dan had been active in Mercer County 4-H in his youth and also as a leader of the Kimel Club. He enjoyed his time in FFA, and served as President. Dan played basketball in high school and in a local YMCA league. He also helped coach his daughters’ teams. Dan was a devoted grandpa to Danielle and Nicholas and enjoyed watching them with their 4-H projects. Family that will cherish Dan’s memory include his wife, Dawn; daughters and sons-in-law: Traci & Jake Ellsworth of Geneseo and Joanne & Jason Beeler of Warsaw; grandchildren: Danielle & Nicholas Beeler; mother: Eleanor Lloyd; brother and sister-in-law: Tom & Kyle Lloyd and their sons, Adam & Matt all of Aledo; Father-in-law, George Attig of Reynolds and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Lloyd and his mother-in-law, Phyllis Attig.
