Daniel Martin Ace Obituary
Daniel Martin Ace passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at age 54 after a long battle with cancer. He was born to Jacob Amos and Esther Laviner Ace on December 29, 1968 in Durham, North Carolina.
Daniel was married to the love of his life, Gerly. They were a proud couple of a successful story of online dating and were blessed to be wonderfully and happily married for almost 16 years. Gerly was his sunshine and his greatest blessing. He always used to say, "Happy wife, happy life." This was more than just words, it was a motto he lived by. Daniel also loved collecting Star Wars, Marvels and Funko collectibles. He loved reading books and watching documentaries, all of which led him to be a walking encyclopedia. Daniel also embraced the Filipino culture, values, beliefs, and traditions. An especially important decision he made was to convert to Catholicism. It was through that decision that his relationship with the Lord deepened, helping Daniel become an even better man.
Daniel is survived by his spouse, Gerly, his father in-law, Gerardo "Gerry" Torreno, his sisters Rebecca Ellen Ace Davin and Rachel Ann Ace, his niece Sarah Margaret Davin and nephew-in-law to be, Ian Xavier Lewis and his nephew, Andrew Jacob Davin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, February 10th at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church,810 West Chapel Hill St., Durham, NC 27701.
The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 PM Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Hall Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 W. Main Street, Durham, NC 27701.
The family would also like to send their deepest gratitude to the Duke Cancer Institute and the cancer research and medical team who took care of Daniel for so many years.
