Daniel Benjamin McQuitty, 88, of Bowling Green, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2025, at Signature Healthcare surrounded by family and others who cared about him. Daniel (Dan) was born on April 13th, 1937, to Dorthy and Daniel McQuitty Sr. in St Louis, MO. As a young man, he honorably served in the US Army Reserve. Afterward, Dan enjoyed a 44-year career with General Motors. He began his career in St Louis, MO and then moved his family to Bowling Green, KY to work at the GM Corvette Assembly Plant in 1980. Dan held many successful roles as he worked his way up through the company into management. Dan had many talents and would often be found tinkering with his cars or building something around the house or for someone else. He loved working with his hands. He was a skilled mechanic, an avid carpenter and woodworker, and enjoyed working outdoors. Dan loved classic hot rods and working on his custom 1940 Ford. He often attended NHRA events with his children and enjoyed all things automotive. He also loved animals, especially his cats. He had a heart for strays and gave many a good home. Dan was a loving father and spent quality time teaching and sharing his gifts and talents with his children. He will be truly missed.
Dan was a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, son, brother, friend and mentor to many. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Patrica Ann McQuitty and his sister Beverly J Simon (Jim).
He was the father to two sons, Micheal McQuitty and Dirk McQuitty (Kimberly); one daughter Yvonne McQuitty; Grandfather to Dee Lockwood, Terry McQuitty, and Christopher McQuitty and two great grandchildren.
