Daniel (Dan) Milligan, aged 92, passed away on October 1, 2024 at his Delaware, Ohio home. Born April 6, 1932 in Buchtel, Ohio, Dan was known for his big heart, kind nature, sweet smile, love of life, quick wit and sense of humor. He loved and protected his family deeply and was always willing to help others.
Dan retired from Nationwide Insurance after a successful and rewarding 42 year career. He served as a medic in the Korean War. Dan was a devoted Catholic, loyal friend, avid sportsman (softball and golf), and enthusiastic sports fan (OSU, Reds, and Bengals). Dan was the biggest Buckeye fan in the land. He worked for the OSU athletic department for over 57 years. This position was a real passion and hobby, never a job. Dan was active with the Elks and Moose where he forged lifelong friendships. Dan prioritized and thoroughly enjoyed precious time with his family. He cheered on his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in all their sports, events, and endeavors.
Dan is survived by Penny, his wife of 67 years and their four children, Karen, Dan, Kelly Winks and Julie (David) Gausepohl, along with their grandchildren Kevin Winks, Jeffrey (Kayla) Winks and Shannon Winks and great grandchildren Liam, Graham and Landon Winks and many nieces and nephews.
Dan was the youngest of 12 children. He is predeceased by his parents James Thomas and Mary (Stewart) Milligan and all his siblings, as well as his son-in-law Dennis Winks.
Dan’s legacy will forever be cherished by all who knew him.
