Stephen James Bennett, 61, of Columbus, OH, passed away on Wednesday, July 16th, 2025. A Memorial Service will be held at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Northeast Chapel Columbus (3047 E Dublin Granville Rd, Columbus, OH 43231) from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, August 2nd.
Steve was born in Royal Oak, MI to Russell B. Bennett and Helen M. Bennett (Palmer). He graduated from Worthington High School in 1981 where he was a member of the varsity soccer team. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University in 1990. Steve will be remembered for his love of listening to and performing music and his passion for sports, especially OSU football.
He is preceded in death by his parents Russell and Helen.
He is survived by his son Casey Bennett (Stephanie Collart), daughter Stacy Groves, grandson Maverick Groves, sisters Terry Terry (Bill Hewitt) and Sally Duncan (Craig Duncan).
Steve’s family would like to extend our sincerest thanks to the staff at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital for the excellent care he received there. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to the Hospice Fund, Mount Carmel Foundation, 3100 Easton Square Place, Suite 300, Columbus, OH 43219.
