Daniel Robert Mixter, 82, of Ambridge passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at his residence surrounded by family after a courageous battle.
He was born on November 28, 1941, in Sewickley, the son of the late Ellsworth and Alyce Jane Day Mixter.
Dan spent the majority of his life as a timberman. After retirement, Dan found solace in spending time outdoors on his swing, where he delighted in feeding the birds and squirrels while savoring his favorite coffee. His friendly demeanor made him a beloved figure in his neighborhood, where he enjoyed engaging in conversations with friends.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Herlinda V. Castillo Mixter; two sons, Ellsworth Mixter, and Nicholas Mixter; six daughters, Becca, Valarie Castillo, AJ (Riley) Wallace, Patricia Mixter, Andrea (Ray) Gazda II, and Lenajee Mixter; two brothers, Jimmy and Pat; three sisters, Nancy, Linda, and Patricia; 21 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Dink, Andy, and Joseph.
Friends will be received Sunday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM in the CORLESS-MATTER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, LLC, 1133 Church Street, Ambridge, where a service will be held Monday at 10:30 AM. Pastor Matt Klenk will officiate.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Islam and staff, Dr. Messick and group, and "the only nurse allowed in the house", Jess.
In remembrance of Dan's life, let us carry forward the values of kindness and friendship that he embodied. May he rest in peace knowing that he was loved and respected by all who knew him.
