Dan Reppe, age 67, of Conde, died Friday, December 13, 2024, at Ava's House in Sioux Falls with his wife, Tammy, by his side following a brief battle with cancer.
A visitation will be held Friday, December 27, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Furness Funeral Home of Clark with a liturgical wake and a time of sharing at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial with Celebrant Reverend Greg Tschakert will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Turton with refreshments and a time of fellowship to follow in the church basement. Burial will be at a later date at St. Thomas Cemetery of rural Crocker. The service will be live-streamed on the funeral home's website below Dan's obituary.
Daniel R. Reppe was born February 16, 1957, to parents Lyle and Donna (DesLauriers) Reppe in Watertown, SD. With eight siblings, there was never a dull moment growing up in the Reppe family. Dan learned at an early age the value of hard work growing up on the family farm. He attended school in Bradley, SD and graduated from Bradley in 1975. Following graduation he stayed and worked on the family farm until the drought of '76 when he worked construction with his uncle Vic DesLauriers for the summer. He then continued farming and ranching with his brother Bill.
Dan met the love of his life, Tammy Gross, and the couple were later married on September 12, 1987 in Turton, SD. The couple had three sons, Alex, Adam, and Riley. He was so proud of his boys. Dan was a hard worker which he passed on to his sons. He leaves a legacy in the cattle industry as he devoted his life to building the "Reppe Ranch" with the help of his wife, Tammy, brother, Bill, and his boys. Together they created a successful ranch raising high quality cattle.
His favorite role was that of a grandpa as he treasured spending time with the grandkids passing on his love for the ranch. His family couldn't have asked for a better husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be missed every day, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his grandson Langston Reppe, who went to be with the Lord on December 13, 2012. Dan joined Langston in heaven on the anniversary of his passing in 2024. Also his parents, Lyle and Donna Reppe, his sister, Lorie Obermeier, a brother-in-law, Gary Bjerke, nephews, Thomas Bjerke and Arthur Andrew Lynch, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marcella and Gordon Gross.
Cherishing the time they spent with him are his wife, Tammy, his sons, Alex (Ashley), Adam (Elissa), and Riley, his grandchildren, Carson, Clayton, Alayna, Adalynn, Alivia and Aiver, all of Conde, his siblings Steve (Karen) of Crocker, Patty (Elwood) Peterson of Bradley, Bill of Bradley, Janet (Doug) Lynch of Webster, Cathy Bjerke of Bradley, Christine (Bob) Meier of Doland and Carrie Reppe of Watertown, brothers-in-law, Ted (Jody) Obermeier of Clark, Jeff (Linda) Gross of Watertown, and Bill (Lori) Gross of Harrisburg and several nieces and nephews.
