Daniel "Dan" L. Schluter, age 53, of Marengo, passed away Monday, February 17, 2025, at Unity Point Health in Marshalltown. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Rev. Jeff Schanbacher officiating. A memorial fund has been established.
Dan is survived by his siblings, Donald Schluter of Marengo, Darlene Lenoch of Marengo, and Dorene (Kenneth) Wilcox of Victor; nephews, Brian Lenoch and Brad Wilcox; and a niece, Chelsea Lenoch.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother David, and a nephew Brandon Collins.
Daniel Lee Schluter was born July 14, 1971, in Marengo, Iowa, the son of Donald and Dorothy (Smith) Schluter. He graduated from Benton Community High School in 1990. Dan worked on the family farm north of Marengo. He enjoyed reading, cooking, playing chess, and word searches. Dan spent 7 years at Accura Healthcare of Toledo, where he loved to participate in bingo, and all the arts and crafts. He especially loved when the nurses brought in their pets for visits. Dan was a gentle soul, and will be missed by all who loved him.
