Daniel Michael Schutte, age 55 of rural Blanchardville died on Thursday, March 6, 2025 as a result of a tragic auto accident. His family greatly mourns his death. He was born on March 1, 1970 in Monroe. His mother is Elaine Gutzmer and his father figures were Ron Brandt and Charles Walczak. Dan grew up in Monroe where he went to school, and then graduated from Albany High School in 1988. He joined a bowling league in high school where he met his best friend, Brian Brandt. He served in the United States Marine Corps following high school, attending boot camp in North Carolina. He was honorably discharged in 1990. He worked for the Soo Line railroad, and then was working at Walnut Hollow in Dodgeville. It was there that in January of 1992 Dan found his soul mate, Rebecca Walczak, sweeping her off her feet and away from another man! They were married on August 21, 1993 at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Ridgeway. They lived in Cobb, then rural Barneveld, and then in 1995 they bought land in rural Blanchardville where they built a home themselves with the help of many family and friends. Together they were blessed with 3 sons who were the joy of his life. They both worked for B D Diagnostics in Madison, then he worked at Promega in Fitchburg. In 2010 he became a stay-at-home dad which he loved and thrived at. His woods at the back of the property were his happy place, where he went to find peace. He loved doing puzzles, often with family. He took his grandma for rides in her senior years. He was a huge (IN VOLUME) collector of Hot Wheels. He loved being outside cleaning out the woods. Becky and the boys were the joy of his life, and he was fiercely proud of all of them. He loved to be the life of the party and make jokes. Dan was a member of the Blanchard Township Board, and the Hollandale American Legion post where he was proud and happy to be involved.
Dan is survived by his wife, Becky Schutte of rural Blanchardville; his son Dylan Ellsworth; his three sons with Becky: Drake, Quinn and Chase, all of rural Blanchardville; his mother Elaine Gutzmer of Ridgeway; one brother, Gus Schutte of Footville; a sister, Jackie Matteson of Loyal; sister-in-law, Nancy Schutte; mother-in-law Ruth Walczak; very close friend Brian (Amy) Brandt; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Dan was the oldest of around 130 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Algreta Schutte; grandmother Betty Haefer; two aunts, Joyce Stenulson and Beverly Haefer; father-in-law Charles Walczak; and a niece Brianna Walczak.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations for the family.
