His life blessed the lives of others and through the memorial donations to Special Olympics in lieu of flowers those blessings continue to benefit others

Mr. Shaffer was a great 3rd grade teacher to both my children Erin and Brian. I loved the Special Train Ticket you received to get on the 3rd Grade Express and the story he would compose just for each student on their birthday. You made your classroom a special place. I am so sorry to Mark and your family. One of your Homeroom Moms Liz Wurtz

Oh Mark, my heart is broken!! Dan was such a special teacher to Shannon in 3rd grade & we will always remember how much fun he brought to the classroom!! He was a fabulous teacher & cared for every one of his students & made their life better for having known him!!
But he was such a good friend to me too. I´m so glad we had the chance to talk this past winter & that we never had the chance to get together again.
Please know my heart breaks for you. I know how much you loved each other & the wonderful life you shared together. Be well. His love will be with you always.
