Daniel Michael Sheehan, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, in Wildwood, Missouri, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on January 9, 1948, in St. Louis, Missouri, Dan was a man whose quiet demeanor concealed a depth of kindness and generosity. He dedicated his life to supporting his family and building lasting memories filled with laughter and love.
Dan's professional journey began with Trailways before he expanded his career to include positions at ITT Financial and Metro Bank Holding Co. Ultimately, he found a home at Anheuser Busch, where he devoted 23 years of his life. His work ethic and dedication were admirable, but it was his caring nature and sharp intellect that made him a friend to many. He had a unique ability to offer wisdom without needing to speak much, making his words even more meaningful when shared.
Educated at Washington University, where he received his BA in Economics, followed by an MBA from UMSL, Dan was intellectually curious and perceptive. His passion for reading, particularly murder mysteries and courtroom dramas, and his enjoyment of football and baseball were expressions of his love for storytelling and competition.
Dan was particularly proud of his family. He shared countless joyful afternoons barbecuing with his loved ones, showcasing his skills as a master at the grill and his infamous chocolate martinis that delighted everyone. His family dog, Lily, often joined him as he relaxed on the deck, proudly displaying the Irish flag—a testament to his heritage that he cherished.
The bonds he shared with his wife of 44 years, Barbara Sheehan; his son, Michael Daniel (Krystina) Sheehan; and his grandson, Benjamin August Sheehan, were the cornerstones of his life. He found endless joy and purpose in their moments together, whether it was sharing family vacations or enjoying peace on sunny days.
He is also survived by his siblings, including his sister, Mimi (the late Donald) Eckstein, and brother, John J. (Barbara) Sheehan, who shared laughter and life lessons with him.
Dan's service to his country in the United States Coast Guard underscored his commitment to others, showcasing the same care and dedication that defined his life. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and quiet strength that will continue to resonate within the hearts of all those he touched.
A service to honor Dan will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, at 11:30 AM. Friends and relatives are invited to join the family for a procession from the funeral home to the Cemetery. All are invited to gather at Newcomer Funeral Home of West County, 2211 Clarkson Road, Chesterfield, no later than 10:15 AM, with departure for the cemetery at 10:30 AM. Following the committal ceremony, a luncheon to celebrate Dan's life will be held at Helen Fitzgerald's, 3650 S. Lindbergh Blvd., in Sunset Hills. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
Memorial contributions may be made in Dan's honor to Stray Rescue of St. Louis.
As we reflect on Dan's life, let us remember a quiet, sweet soul who took great pride in his family and the beautiful moments they created together. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, forever cherished and remembered.
