Mary Ann was born on October 23, 1932 in Webster Groves, Missouri to John B. and Mary E. Dodge.
On October 30, 1958, she married the love of her life, Lee F. Carter. They were devoted to each other from their very first date.
Mary Ann is a graduate of Washington University and Fontbonne University in St. Louis, Missouri, graduating with degrees in Transportation Dynamics and Economics. She utilized her education working in real estate and in the finance sector, which she loved and thrived on.
When not working, Mary Ann loved adventuring in the great outdoors. She was an avid hiker, skier, cross-country skier, snow shoer, and sailor in the summer. Her favorite activities though were ice skating, ice dancing, and western dancing with her husband, Lee.
Mary Ann was also known for her active and charitable support of the League of Women Voters, the Utah Symphony, the Ogden Mission and the Ogden Nature Center.
Mary Ann is survived by her devoted husband, Lee F. Carter; son, Lee Carter; daughter, Anne K. (Carter) Shirey. She is also survived by her adored grandchildren, Benjamin Shirey, Alexander Shirey and Elizabeth Shirey; as well as her son-in-law Robert Shirey. Nieces and nephews include Fritz Carter, Mike (Kim) Carter, JF (Becky) Carter, Tom Carter, Christopher (Jan) Carter, Kathy (Sean) Montag, Laurie (Jarrett) Hallas, Carrie Rowe, Jason (Sonya) Carter, Matt (Sonya) Carter, Debbie (Mike) Howe. Mary is also survived by brother-in-law Greg (Nancy) Carter and sister-in-law Cecilia Rowe.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her brothers John and Noel Dodge; brother-in-law Joe Carter and his wife, Mary.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Valley View Baptist Church, 2712 N. Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park.
