Daniel James Sweeney, Sr., age 59, a resident of Pelham, NH, passed away peacefully at Lowell General Hospital on Thursday, July 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Gail C. (Tierney) Sweeney with whom he enjoyed 36 years of marriage.
He was born in Lowell on September 24, 1965, and was the son of the late James and Edwina (Farnan) Sweeney.
Daniel attended Dracut schools and worked for KLN construction for 43 years. The fall and winter seasons were his favorite times of year, being the start of hunting and ice fishing seasons. He always wore camo, even when not appropriate. As an avid Patriots fan, he attended games regularly with family. He was a simple guy who always put his family and friends first.
In addition to his loving wife, Daniel is survived by his daughter Mystique and her fiance Allison of Maine, Daniel Sweeney Jr and his partner Rose of NH, and Travis Sweeney of RI, along with his best four legged friend, Finnegan who will miss him dearly; his grandson Elijah James Sweeney; Seven sisters, Margaret "Peggy" Therrien, Patricia "Patsy" and Roger Laurin, Catherine "Cathy" and Marcel Ouellet, Marie and Steve Smith, Joanne and Victor Gagne, Karen and Don Nicolls, Judy and John Shepard, and two brothers Robert and Sheila Sweeney, and Eugene and Songkhan Sweeney. He also leaves behind numerous nieces/nephews, and great nieces/nephews. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his brother James Sweeney.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, from 4pm to 7pm at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT. His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11am in the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Gibson Cemetery, PELHAM. Memorial donations may be made in Daniel's memory to the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of NH, nhwildlifeheritage.org
