Daniel James "Dan" Weirich Sr. 85 of Butler died Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital following a brief illness.
On August 19, 1938 he was born in Loudonville to parents Charles & Betty (McGuire) Weirich. When he was just 17 years old he joined the US Navy and was stationed in Japan for part of his 4 years in the service.

Some of the jobs that Dan worked included Butler Drywall, Clear Fork Ski Lodge as manager of maintenance, Snow Trails as a lift operator and he was the private school pick up driver for Hudson, Jude and Paisley.
Dan was never one to sit idle. He always had some type of project he was working on or was building something. From benches to decks and everything in between, he enjoyed working with his hands doing woodworking, gardening or one of the many projects around the house. He was a loving and loyal father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He made sure to make every sporting event for his kids and grandkids. He was always the first to volunteer to help any family member that needed help on a project.
He will be greatly missed by everyone in his family including his loving wife Jean Weirich; children Larry (Debbie) Weirich, Daniel (Mary) Weirich Jr., Glenn (Annie) Weirich, Tony (Shennon) Weirich and Tina (Len) Fry; grandchildren Jim (Angie) Weirich, Nik (Delaney) Weirich, Kevin (Michelle) Weirich, Stephanie Weirich, Rebecca (Eric) Hicks, Ben (Alyssa) Weirich, Callie Fry, Taylor (Jonathan) Pickering, Lydia Fry, Emalie Fry, Hunter Weirich; great-grandchildren Eric Hicks Jr. and new baby Hicks in November, Alexis and Dakota Weirich, Kendall, Ollivia and Aubree Weirich, Reagan and Tatum Pickering, Brantley, Bristol and Branson Weirich; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles & Betty Weirich, sisters Judi (Jake) Oswalt and Carol (Pete) Kaser.
Although there will not be any public services for Dan the Weirich family hopes you will remember him in your own special way. He will be placed to rest in Zion Four Corners Cemetery near Butler.
The family would like to thank the third floor doctors and nursing staff at OhioHealth Mansfield and the OhioHealth Hospice nursing staff for the care they gave Dan in his final days.
