Dear Weist Family,
Please accept my sympathy to your family on the of passing of Danny. I haven't seen him in many years. I have good memories of the family picnics and growing up with all the Weist children. Special memories of Uncle Jack and Aunt Irene. Peace and love to all.

I had the privilege of meeting Danny, seventy years ago in kindergarten at Beach School in Rocky River. Our friendship continued as best friends at St. Chris and Rocky River High and continued until the present. Being involved with the Weist Family was surely something to treasure. Danny may have passed, but the memories and stories will continue forever. God bless you, Dan for you were truly one of a kind.

Dan, Rest in peace, my friend. You were a good man and a good friend. I have fond memories of the many nights I worked off-duty at the Bay Lodge and we'd chat. The world has lost a gem.

I was practically raised in the Weist household. I was there so much that Mr. Weist called me his #3 daughter. My mom used to say that Mrs. Weist was going to send her a bill for room & board. Mary Ann & I were glued at the hip. With that being said, I always felt Mary Ann´s siblings were also mine.
Which brings me to Dan. Dan always had a smile on his face. He was quiet yet so very kind. I remember when he got drafted & Mary Ann showed me the letter - "Greetings" - I cringed. I remember feeling sick to my stomach.
He went to Viet Nam and served honorably. Of course he did, that´s how he was raised. As a Rocky River policeman he served his community with dedication and pride. Rocky River was lucky to have him. He was a loving husband and father. Family meant everything.
Rest In Peace, Dan. Know that your light will never diminish. You will be missed.

Great guy ! So many great memories from the islands...the football games on the sand bar in sandusky bay. A wonderful storyteller...a great addition to the Veterans Service Commission...Very special person.

As one of Jim's good high school friends, Dan always had our group of friend's backs. Danny was a wonderful guy, just a good man. My love and condolences to dear Linda and their family. He was my favorite cousin when I was young. First met him when Linda asked me to be her junior bridesmaid and loved him immediately! I remember Dan let me have a sip of his beer(my first) during a Christmas party at my parents...he asked my dad 1st! I´ll remember Dan with love and happiness-what he brought to us. All my love to you Linda.

Dan was a thoughtful and dynamic leader. His military career was a model for all and his concern for our nations veterans was unmatched. The veteran community has lost a great advocate and he will be missed. All who worked with him admired his compassion and strength.

My sincere condolences to Linda and the family. Word of his passing was very sad. Dan was a kind man and a friend to all who knew him. Dan gave many years of service for his country. Both in the military and as a policeman. I admired his bravery in battle while in Vietnam. He was a Hero! God Bless you Dan! RIP
