Daniel Edward Woodgate of Austin, Texas, formerly of Berkley and Detroit, Michigan, passed peacefully into paradise on January 28th after a long battle with cancer. He was 75 years old.
Dan graduated from St. James High School in 1968. In 1976, Dan started his own business, Gate Mold Inc and continued to work even into retirement. Dan loved and excelled at sports. He was the captain of the St. James basketball team as a sophomore. He loved hunting, fishing and later in life golf, where he participated in tournaments all over the US. Throughout his life he loved gambling, both with family and friends and whatever city had a Caesars Palace.
From the day Dan met you, you were considered a friend for life. He was known for his generosity which included hosting an annual reunion for his family and friends in Michigan.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret Woodgate and brother John (Carole) Woodgate. He is survived by his loving family, son James (Kimberly) Woodgate and daughter Jennifer St. Pierre; grandchildren Michael Pope, Brittany (Toby) Dykstra, Savannah (Evan) Ferguson, Aaron Woodgate, Brendan Woodgate, Reagan St. Pierre, Riley St. Pierre; great grandchildren Brody Aitken and Violette Dykstra; his loving brother, Mike (Joyce) Woodgate and his loving sisters Pat (Larry) Marsalese and Cathleen Nolan. Dan is also survived by his former wife, Karen Woodgate, who remained a close friend throughout the years; as well as his Goddaughter Kari Theisen and many other nieces and nephews.
Beloved father, brother, and friend - you are loved by many. Everyone is better for having known you, and you are deeply missed.
