Daniel Wozniak, 96 of Toledo, Ohio passed away the morning of May 25, 2025 in Sylvania, Ohio where he was staying at Kingston Residence after a period of declining health.
Daniel (Lefty) was born May 11, 1929 and went through school in Toledo and graduated from Woodward High School. Dan married Dorothy January 15 1950. Dorothy preceded him in death. Dorothy and Dan were long-term members of Toledo Area Polka Society. They performed in many Polka Dance competitions and won many of them.
Daniel played in the Carthed Missouri Minor league, which was a part of the Chicago Cubs Franchise. He was drafted into the United States Army and was in Europe and played baseball for the U.S. Army team in Germany. He returned to Toledo after his time in the U.S. Army was up, and became a barber in Toledo and opened his Barber Shop on LaGrange St until he retired in his 80’s
He was a long-term golfer, fisherman for his favorites perch and walleye and he also had a woodworking shop in his basement. He built his own kitchen cabinets, and loved working on multi-piece wooden bowls made from whatever type of wood he had. He made house wall decorations, plant stands and quilt racks to name a few. Examples included walnut, cherry, wormy chestnut to name a few.
Dan is survived by his son, Tom Wozniak (Marty) residing in Sagamore Hills, Ohio; Grandson Andy Wozniak (Kelsey) and Great Grandson Cooper of Peninsula, Ohio. He is also survived by his good friend Carol Zomkowski.
