Danielle Zajac Malchano, age 60, of Gibsonia, passed in her home surrounded by family on August 29, 2023. She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary Housley Zajac. She is survived by her highschool sweetheart and husband of 39 years, Robert J. Malchano; four children: Brittany Hohman (Nicholas), Breanne Cavenaugh (Justin), Justin Malchano (Becca), and Evan Malchano (Donna); eight grandchildren: Poppy, Henry, Wallace, Hudson, Jude, Willow, Martin, and baby Malchano due in November; seven siblings: Greg (Pat), Cindy (Jeff), David (Regina), Donna, Michael (Julie), Michelle, and Andrea (Ed), and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and Family will be received Sunday and Monday from 2-4pm & 6-8pm at Schellhaas Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Ltd., 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 11am at St. Richard Church, Sts. Martha and Mary Parish, 3841 Dickey Road, Gibsonia.
Danielle was a warrior, facing her 5-year battle against breast cancer with optimism and hope. A fiercely loving mother, she valued family and always put them first. She loved gathering for the holidays and decorating the family home, especially her four Christmas trees. As a Halloween enthusiast, she sewed countless costumes. If she wasn't reading to a grandchild, you could find her in her garden birdwatching. She enjoyed traveling with close friends and trying new recipes. Working in the medical field for 40 years, she helped many during her career and was an advocate for patients suffering from Epidermolysis Bullosa.
In lieu of flowers, family requests a donation to The Butterfly Children Fund in Danielle's memory, a charity to support children with Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa, campspiritcolorado.org.
