Danny Arney

Danny K. Arney, age 66, passed away June 24, 2024, at his home. He was born on July 11, 1957, in Royal Oak to Benny Arney and Doris O'Rear Arney. Danny met his high school sweetheart, Kathelene "Kitty" King, and on September 17, 1977, the couple married in Royal Oak.
After graduating from high school, Danny enlisted in the US Army and spent four and a half years in El Paso, TX, where their son David was born. The family then moved back to Michigan, first to Berkley, where their son, Jacob was born, and more recently to Clawson. Danny served in the Army Reserves for twenty years and was activated during Desert Storm. Following his military service, he began his career as a Pathology Assistant, recently retiring after 42 years at Corewell Hospital (formerly William Beaumont Hospital) in Troy.
Danny loved golfing, whether in local leagues, with his wife Kitty, or with his sons. He enjoyed spending time up north hunting for deer with his family and also enjoyed bowling. Danny was content to sit outside his garage, listening to music and bonding with his faithful companion, Slater, his boxer. He will be remembered most for cherishing the time spent with his family.
Beloved husband of Kitty for nearly 47 years. Loving father of David (Rochelle) Arney and Jacob Arney. Proud grandfather of Sophia, Hunter, Wyatt, and Cheyenne. Dear brother of Karen (the late Thomas) Brickwedde, Curt Arney, Jackie (Brett) Scharnhorst, and the late Bobby Arney. Uncle to several nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will be on Tuesday, July 2, from 2-8 pm at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile Rd. (4 blks E. of Woodward), Royal Oak.
