Danny Fancher Obituary

Danny William Fancher, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on June 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family in New Albany, Indiana. Born on December 4, 1949, in Paoli, Indiana, Danny's life was marked by his dedication to his work, his unwavering care for others, and his deep love for family and friends.

Graduating from Proviso East High School in Maywood, Illinois, Danny embarked on many journeys, one of which led him to proudly serve in the United States Army, where he was honorably discharged. After serving his country, Danny channeled his tireless spirit into entrepreneurship by founding Dan's Coin-Op Repair Sales and Service, a business he ran for over 40 years. His commitment to his work was matched only by his generosity of spirit. Danny had a unique way of expressing his affection; he was known for his thoughtful gifts, often surprising those close to him with a flashlight-a symbol of his guiding and caring nature.

A proud member of the American Legion Post 42, Danny embraced his community and took great pride in his service. He found joy in simple pleasures, whether it was gardening, holiday decorating-especially during Halloween and Christmas-or camping under the stars. However, nothing brought him more happiness than spending quality time with his family and friends, creating cherished memories that will forever resonate in their hearts.

Danny is survived by his loving wife, Carol; his devoted children, Christina Dodson, Thomas (Jennifer) Dodson, and Julie Dodson; and his adored grandchildren, Kayla and Jack. He also leaves behind his dear sisters, Donna (Kenneth) Snow and Connie (Danny) Sachleben, as well as a host of cherished niece and nephews-Michelle, Shannon, Jeremy, and Adam; several cousins and many close friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, George (Beverly) Fancher, his mother, Wilma (Jesse) Williams, and his nephew, Christopher Roach, all of whom remain in the hearts of those who loved him.

Danny will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. His warmth and kindness will echo through the years, and his legacy of love and generosity will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known him.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM, both at the Newcomer Funeral Home in Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN. Burial will follow at Stampers Creek Cemetery in Paoli, IN.

As we celebrate Danny's remarkable life, we hold dear the many lessons he imparted: to care for one another, cherish time spent with loved ones, and find joy in the small things. May he rest in peace, forever remembered in our hearts.

The family requests that contributions in Danny’s memory be made to Wounded Warriors or American Cancer Society.
