Danny L. Horsley, 63, died naturally and peacefully in his sleep Friday morning, August 4, 2023.
He was born in Bucyrus on January 10, 1960 to the late Alfred Donald Horsley Sr. and Brenda (Mustard) Hill who survives. Danny went to Bucyrus Schools and briefly lived near Ashtabula before returning. He met his sister's friend, Carol Hayes, when they discovered they were both CB radio operators. They were married October 21, 1978 sharing family, partnership, and laughter for nearly 45 years.
"DanMan" was a simple man, gifted mechanic, and fixer of nearly anything. When he wasn't underneath a car, he was accumulating gadgets from friends and businesses to repair. He worked for a number of repair shops including Downing Auto Wrecking, Randy's Tire, Rall's Automotive, and his own shop, Horsley Garage. He was currently working at WMS in Upper Sandusky. In years past, Danny built and competed in Demolition Derbies, winning one at the Crawford County Fair. He and Carol enjoyed NASCAR and got to visit a few tracks and various garages down south. He was a Steelers fan and will be remembered as an honest, stand-up guy who spoke his mind and had his customers' and friends' best interest at heart.
Danny is survived by his wife, Carol (Hayes) Horsley; sons, Matt (Patricia) Horsley and Joey Horsley (Shannon McDivitt); three grandchildren, Kailey, Aeden, and Brody; mother, Brenda; siblings, Peggy Claus, Portia Liles, Keith Horsley, and Chuck Horsley; brother-in-law, John (Deanna) Hayes; and many extended family.
In addition to his dad, he was preceded in death by brothers, Brian "Titz" Horsley and Don (Sheila Hedrick) Horsley; and brothers-in-law, Jim Liles and Ralph Claus.
Danny's family invite friends to bring their stories and memories as they celebrate his life with a reception at Wise Funeral Service on Tuesday, August 8 from 3-6 pm.
Gifts to help with Danny's funeral expenses are sincerely appreciated and can be made payable to Wise Funeral Service. Memories and photos can also be shared on Danny's Tribute Wall.
