Danny Lee Rogers

With great sorrow, the Rogers, Thompson and Weinzapfel families announce the passing of our kind, caring and generous husband, father, and grandfather, Danny Rogers on June 6, 2024.
Danny was born on December 2, 1944, to Alton Lee Rogers and Josie Helen Bea Harris Rogers in rural Fannin County, Texas. He graduated from Whitewright High School and attended Grayson County College. He was a member of the Luella First Baptist Church. He married the love of his life, Doris Dodson, on February 6 1965 in Sedalia Texas. Out of that marriage were born three children he adored, Dale, Darla and Dana and four grandchildren, Mackenzie, Aubyn, Juniper and Willow who were the 'lights' of his life.
Danny was a welder by trade and worked 44 years in the industry for one organization known by many names including Reed Tool, Reedrill and Caterpillar. He was highly valued for his welding skills and his work was easily recognizable whenever they were presented. Although trained as a welder, Danny was a man of many talents and capabilities from furniture making to house building to automotive repair. There was nothing he could not build or repair. Danny loved the outdoors, working in his shop and most of all, spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton Rogers and Helen Rogers Taylor, step-father, Jesse Taylor, and brothers David and Dicky Rogers.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Doris, son Dale and wife Cecilia of Phillip Island, Australia, daughters Darla Thompson and husband James of Luella Texas and Dana Weinzapfel and husband Jon of Waco Texas, granddaughters Mackenzie Thompson, Aubyn Riley and husband Dylan, Juniper and Willow Rogers.
Visitation will be at 10:00 with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 on Thursday, June 13 at Luella First Baptist Church, 3162 State HWY 11, Sherman, Texas 75090. Brother Bobby Hawkins of Luella First Baptist Church will officiate, and the pallbearers will be Shane Hamilton, Aaron Hamilton, Dylan Riley, David Goggans, Rick Kelly, and Lance Morris. Burial will be in Cedar Cemetary, Luella Texas.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make memorials in his name to the Luella Baptist Church building fund.
