Obituary published on Legacy.com by Davis Greenlawn Funeral Chapels and Cemeteries on Dec. 18, 2024.
Danny Ray Terral, age 78 of Sugar Land, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8, 2024 in Houston, TX. He was born June 7, 1946 in Texarkana, AR to Raymond McCoy Terral and Daphne May (Helms) Terral.
Danny was a 1964 Lamar Consolidated High School graduate in
Rosenberg, TX. He met the love of his life in September 1964, Carol Diane Goehring of Sugar Land, TX. They met at a skating rink in Wallis, TX the same way his parents met at a roller skating rink in East Texas. Danny & Carol married on October 8, 1967 when Danny had a two week leave from the US Navy. He was a four year veteran in the US NAvy, stationed at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii and a year tour in Vietnam. He loved his country very much. Danny & Carol spent their first anniversary and first Christmas in Hawaii.
Danny worked at Nalco Chemical Company for 36 years before he took an early retirement and later cared for his family members at home. The biggest joy in Danny & Carol's lives was when their son, Russell Lee Terral was born on December 21, 1971. The family of three enjoyed many exciting trips to many states and Canada, and a visit to Alaska to see family. Danny had several hobbies including playing pool at the T.E. Harmon Senior Center in Sugar Land. He became quite a pool shark by watching and studying the game and playing on the internet. He loved photography and collected old antique cameras. He loved salt water fishing in his boat at Matagorda and Surfside, TX winning The President's Cup CCA-Texas Greater Sugar Land Chapter 1999 Grand Champion Award. The fish he caught is still hanging in the living room wall. He loved Sudoku puzzles and was a very good handyman around the house. He loved riding in several bicycle events in Houston. Everyone knew when was driving around town in his prized possession, his "old" green 1995 Dodge Diesel Cummings Turbo truck. The engine is still in great condition but the body is falling apart but that was his "baby" he loved.
Danny was a quiet, sweet soft spoke man who helped anyone who needed help. He and Carol did everything together. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Daphne Terral, sister Norma Carol Hamlin of Alaska.
Danny is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Carol Diane Terral and son Russell Lee Terral and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank all the family dear friends who help Danny and Carol through this difficult time and are still helping at this time.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 28, 2024 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Burial with military honors to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
