Beverly "Bev" Roark, age 71, passed into glory on November 10, 2025, in Huntsville TX.
She was born on August 21, 1954, in Sugar Land TX, to her parents Reuben and Vlasta Frenzel. Beverly grew up with a deep love for family, music and education; qualities that shaped every part of her life.
She graduated from Lamar Consolidated High School, then attended Wharton County Junior College on a full band scholarship. She then completed her bachelor's degree in business at Sam Houston State University.
During her time at Sam Houston State University, she met Gary Roark, who quickly became the love of her life. Both shared a passion for music, and when he composed a song for her, she instantly realized he was the one. They were married on July 22, 1977, and together shared more than 48 years filled with love, laughter and devotion to each other. While newly married, she continued her education and earned a master's degree in marketing from the University of Houston.
In 1982, Beverly began her memorable career at New Waverly High School, teaching Marketing and Business Communications. She had a desire to prepare high school students for careers in marketing and finance, which led her to be the sponsor for the school's DECA program. With her leadership, the school's DECA program won many competitions, both at state and national levels. Under her leadership, the program also organized and operated a school store, which funded the students' numerous competitions. She retired in 2010 after impacting many students' lives.
Retirement highlighted her "skills" in shopping, crafting, and floral design. In more recent years, she took up several new hobbies; cruising the waterways with the love of her life and teaching herself to play the piano, which led to her and Gary organizing their gospel band, Southern Hope Band.
Family and friends will long remember her warmth, kindness, love and quiet strength she carried throughout her life. Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories.
She is survived by her loving husband, Gary Roark, cousin Nadine Carlisle, Brother-in-Laws, Edwin Roark Jr. and wife Jackie, Robert Roark and wife Mary, and Sister-in-Law, Evelyn Bennett, along with numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great and great-great, and the many students that walked through her classroom door that became her children. She was also blessed with extended family, Eric and Michelle Garcia and her special granddaughter Savannah, who lovingly called her "GG".
Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Vlasta Frenzel.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM followed by the service beginning at 11:00 AM at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville. She will be laid to rest at Dodge Cemetery immediately following the service.
