Danny Eugene Thompson III, also known as DJ AKA KID ROCKET. He went to be with the Lord on September 20, 2023. He left behind a legacy of love and devotion that will forever remain in our hearts. DJ was an Underground Coal Miner that loved his family. Most importantly his kids were his whole world. In addition to being a loving father and family man, he loved Drag Racing. Racing was also his lifelong passion. DJ started racing and watching his Dad race at the age of 6 years old and at the age of 15 years old he was in his own Race Car going down the dragstrip. That year he won 9 out of the 10 races that they raced. He also won the 5.95 point championship that year. Drag Racing was his all-time favorite thing to do. DJ was also the life of the party. He was also a big Jokester that he inherited from his Dad, Pawpaw and his Great Pawpaw. DJ was taken from us way too early and will be greatly missed by so many.
DJ is survived by his companion, Jamie Phillippe; his five children, Gracie Thompson, Raelynn Thompson, Emily Raine Thompson, Lex Honaker and Xane Honaker; is beloved father Danny E Thompson Jr and loving stepmother Lori Thompson; his mother Sharon Thompson and companion Doyle Guilliams; 8 brothers and sisters, Dustin and Arland Carroll, India Novia, Nicolas and Destiny Thompson, Dakota and Sabrina Hall, Zachary Thompson, Chase and Faith Thompson, Logann Hodges and Sampson Stanley, and his stepbrother, Austin and Megan Guilliams. He has 16 nieces and nephews and grandmother Brenda Aleshire and great Mawmaw Judith Thompson. DJ has many aunts and uncles and great aunts and uncles. DJ is from a very big family and will be missed by so many.
DJ was preceded in death by his loving Pawpaw and Mawmaw. Danny Eugene Thompson Senior and Deborah Lynn Thompson. His nine month old niece Peyton GillenWalters, his grandpa Robert Dooley and his great Pawpaw Frankie Thompson.
DJ was a loving son, brother, uncle, and father.
His services will be held at the Sycamore Free Pentecostal Church, 380 Sycamore Hollow Rd, Colcord, WV 25048.
His viewing will start off with family on September 28, 2023 at 5 PM, following that at 6pm with friends and family. The viewing will go on all night long. The church will be open all night. His funeral will also be held at the church at 1 PM on Friday, September 29 and then he will be laid to rest at the Thompson Family Cemetery. Jerry Tyree will be conducting the services for us.
