John Thompson, III, born on April 19, 1942, in Atlanta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, in Braselton, Georgia. He lived a full life dedicated to his family, career, and service to his country.
John had a distinguished career as a fiberglass department trainer with Delta Air Lines, where he was known for his expertise and commitment to excellence. His work not only contributed to the success of the airline but also left a lasting impact on those who had the privilege to work alongside him.
In addition to his professional achievements, John honorably served in the United States Air Force, where he demonstrated bravery and integrity. His military service was a source of pride for him and one that reflected his dedication to his country.
A beloved family member, John is survived by his sisters, Juanita (Don) Mock and Sue Thompson, along with six cherished grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Each member of his family held a special place in his heart and their memories will remain a treasured part of his legacy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Junior and Helen Rowena Cross Thompson, and his sister, Martha Peterson. Their love and guidance throughout his life were instrumental in shaping the man he became.
The visitation to honor John Thompson, III will be held on November 4, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ivie Funeral Home, located at 1053 S. Elm Street, Commerce, GA 30529. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM at the same location.
John Thompson, III will be remembered as a man of integrity, warmth, and steadfast devotion to his family and profession. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
