Daphne Joyce Miller, 91 years old, died suddenly in Dillion, Montana on Sept. 11, 2025.
Daphne was born in Hitchin, North Hertfordshire, England in 1934 to William and Phyllis Shepherd.
She had one sibling, her sister Pearl. Her father served in the Army and her mother ran an inn/boarding house. Her mother never learned how to drive a car but she flew a plane to deliver the mail during WWII.
Daphne did very well in school. She was awarded a partial scholarship to attend medical school but her family couldn't afford the remaining costs, so she had to decline.
After high school Daphne worked as a farm harvester and candy factory worker.
Daphne met the love of her life, Roy Miller, at the NCO club at the RAF Sculthorpe in Norfolk, England and about a year later they were married June 5, 1956 (Unindependence Day) in Kettering, Northamptonshire, England.
Daphne and Roy had 5 boys: Karl; Gordon; Paul; Philip; and Tony.
Daphne arrived at Newark, New Jersey, United States of America on Oct. 19, 1958. They later moved to Virginia, Oregon, and finally Montana.
Daphne's favorite hobbies were knitting, baking, gardening, reading, solving crosswords, and word finds.
Daphne also had a great love of dogs. She owned many dogs over the years and her favorite breed was the Irish Setter.
Daphne also worked at the Lutheran Nursing Home as well as Safeway for over a decade where she won numerous Best Customer Service awards.
Daphne was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Pearl, husband Roy, and her sons Karl and Gordon. She is survived by: her sons Paul, Philip, and Tony; 8 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
