Darius Lamar Watkins, 19, of Tell City, IN, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, as the result of an automobile accident.
He was born April 22, 2004, in Tell City, IN, the son of April (Jones) Noland and Joshua Watkins.
Darius was a 2022 Tell City High School graduate. While in high school, he was an active member of Marksmen Football as their linebacker and running back. For Marksmen Basketball he was known as their three-point shooter. He was also involved as a student helper with the special needs children. After high school, he went on to further his education obtaining his Associate Degree as a Social Worker from the University of Louisville. Where he was also active in sports and was a walk on player for the men's basketball team. He was currently employed at Spencer Industries as an operator and backup quality auditor. Darius enjoyed singing, cooking, the outdoors, playing corn hole, sports, and cleaning and maintaining his car. He loved his hair, beard, and he loved his shoes, but not as much as he loved his family and friends. Knowing Darius, he was always fresh and clean.
Survivors include his mother and father, April and Jason Noland of Tell City; father, Joshua Watkins of Hardinsburg, KY; fiancé, Yvonne (Brooklynn) Prewitt of Hardinsburg, KY; siblings, Domonick Gray of Indianapolis, Jillian Gray of Hardinsburg, KY, Treyton Mucker of Indianapolis, Breeana Noland of Tell City, Zaylah Noland of Tell City, and Kamdin Carrier of Louisville, KY; grandparents, Rick and Dixie Jones of Rockport, Mary Jo Carter and Timothy of Chrisney, Jesse and Dinola (Pat) Watkins Hardinsburg, KY, and Stanley and Evette Noland of St. Kitts- Nevis; and great-grandfather, Joseph Butler, Sr.
Darius was preceded in death by his great-parents, Marie Butler, Ezra and Louise Jones, Viola Marie and Homer Gray Sr., Mary C. Watkins and Joseph G. Watkins; his great-uncle Ricky Butler; and cousins, Liam Dugas, Christopher Sturgeon, and Kenneth Rhinehart.
Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday February 8, 2024, and from 9:00am to service time on Friday at the funeral home.
Services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home with burial to follow immediately in Greenwood Cemetery.
Darius was able to give the gift of life, by being an organ donor. In doing so he was able to save four lives.
Memorial contributions may be made to April Noland as she is in the process of setting up an acct with the Brain Trauma Foundation for TBI (traumatic brain injury).

My favorite memory with Darius is when I was in 4th grade and he was a senior me him and my friends were playing basketball with him. I really miss him.
