Darl Patterson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wasson Funeral Home - Siloam Springs on Jan. 7, 2026.
Darl D. Patterson, Sr., age 86, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, passed peacefully from his earthly home to his heavenly home on January 4, 2026.

Darl was born on April 23, 1939, in Decatur, Arkansas, to Orville and Marie (Dill) Patterson. He was the youngest of four children and was raised on the family farm, where he developed a lifelong love for the outdoors. An avid outdoorsman, Darl especially enjoyed fishing and hunting, passions that stayed with him throughout his life.

At just 17 years old, Darl proudly joined the United States Navy, serving his country from 1956 to 1960. His strong work ethic continued after his military service, and he spent most of his working years as a truck driver. Darl retired in 2009 from PAM Transportation after many years of dedicated service.

In March of 1970, Darl met the love of his life, Ruth Maudine Slack. The two were married on May 15, 1970, and shared 55 years of marriage filled with love, family, and faith. Together, they raised four children: Shellie, Marena, Darl Jr., and Martha.

Darl is survived by his devoted wife, Maudine (Slack) Patterson; three daughters, Shellie Kindy and husband Dennis of Siloam Springs, Marena Harmon and husband Dude of Siloam Springs, and Martha Whittington and husband Wade of Tontitown; seven grandchildren and their spouses; five great-grandchildren; his sister, Carol Underdown; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Marie Patterson; his sister, JoAnn Meek; his brother, Junior Patterson; and his son, Darl Patterson, Jr.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered support, prayers, and condolences during this time of loss. Darl will be remembered for his love of family, his junking, his wheeling and dealing, his quiet strength, his dedication to hard work, and the legacy of love he leaves behind.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 2 p.m., both at Wasson's Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at Falling Springs Cemetery in Decatur, AR.
