David Larry Shirley

David Larry Shirley passed away at home on February 28, 2026, surrounded by his family, in Siloam Springs, AR.

David was born in Electra, Texas, on June 19, 1947, to Robert Cal Shirley and Anita Joe Sefcik.

He married Betty Thomas on January 5, 1968, in Stilwell, OK, and they shared 58 wonderful years until his passing.

David proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict and received the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars; the National Defense Service Medal; the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Combat Infantryman Badge and was recognized as an Expert with an M-14 rifle.

David retired from Simmons Industries and, in his retirement, enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to yard sales, and watching WWE Wrestling. But most of all, David loved spending time with his family and spoiling them, especially his grandchildren.

David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend whose memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

David was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and three brothers.

He is survived by his wife Betty of the home; two daughters, Luanna Farmer and husband Doug, and Rosa French; son, David Carl Shirley, all of Siloam Springs; brother, Dan Shirley, of Texas; grandchildren: Alexus Herling and husband Daxton, Aiyanna Hayes, and Jaden Porche and husband Skylar, all of Siloam Springs; Priscilla Lykins and Patrick Lykins of Watts, OK; three great grandchildren: Loren, Lane, and Lukas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service is planned for Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at the Wasson Funeral Home Chapel; burial and military honors will follow at the Fayetteville National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
