Darla Kay Davis (11/2/1968 - 07/23/2024)
Darla Kay Davis (née Week) was born in Ely, Minnesota to Robert and Andrea Week. She
graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Babbitt, Minnesota in 1987. Darla was very active in sports, groups, and church. She received many awards for singing, playing the piano, and track and field. Darla had an excellent sense of style and won multiple awards for being best dressed. Her kindness showed when she was nominated as Miss Congeniality by her fellow contestants in a local pageant. After high school, she went on to study and work in business in Minneapolis. She also traveled with a singing group throughout Europe and Russia.
After working in business for many years, she became a mother and homemaker.
Darla met Parnell Davis and married in Saint Thomas, USVI in 1995 on a cliff overlooking the ocean. They lived in Minneapolis until they bought their first home in Coon Rapids, where they continued to live until her passing. They welcomed five children, Aaron, Ariana, Ashlyn, Avery, and Aiden. She was a very attentive mother and attended every play, sports event, concert, and pageant. Darla treasured her time watching and playing with her grandchild, Miles, whom she adored. As a family, they especially loved swimming in their pool at home and vacationing yearly in Longville, Minnesota.
Darla had a love of dogs and always had them in her life. She was a big supporter of the
ASPCA. Darla loved swimming, shopping, and getting her nails done. However, her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family.
Darla will always be remembered for her kindness, sense of humor, and perfect penmanship.
She also had a knack for remembering the name of everyone she's ever met. We couldn't have asked for a better wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, or friend, and will miss her every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
Darla is survived by husband, Parnell Davis; children, Aaron, Ariana, Ashlyn, Avery, and Aiden Davis; grandson, Miles Davis; father, Robert Week; mother, Andrea Mills; siblings, Darren (Melissa) Week and Dene (Lance) Weatherly; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is on August 4, 2024 from 1 - 4 PM at Washburn-McReavy, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55433. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Kidney Fund (https://www.kidneyfund.org/).

I just received a note from a former co worker at PSA/Equifax where I worked with Darla for years and even after the business closed we were still friends we were friends and I got to know the family fan kids for years. Oh Parnell, I know how much you loved Darla and were her rock sometimes. I am in shock I was wondering why I haven't heard from Darla as we did have so many similar health illness and would talk for hours about them and compare notes.

I loved Darla dearly. Right know I am in shock...the words are just stuck in me and I have so much so say but my words won't come out.

Darla was a beautiful person and great co worker and would do anything for anyone. I was so happy when she finally started her adoption on her children and then her beautiful grandchildren came into her life. There was nothing she could do. She was a great mother, wife, sister, friend, grandmother, etc. etc. etc.

Thank you Judy Herring from PSA for letting me know about Darla. Since my stroke two years ago, I don't get on the computer but God told me to get on it tonight and you were there and thank God you were here and told me about Darla. Her youngest son graduated and I just sent a card and money, and including a handwritten note for Darla and no word and I wonder why. Not my answer has been answer,

Parnell, if there is anything Douglas and I can do for you and your family please wrote me or call me. We are here for you and your family. God Bless you all.

Once again, I am so sorry for your loss of Darla. RIP
