Darlene was born on August 4, 1940, in Lamar MO to the late Walter and Lucile (Throckmorton) Blackmore.
Darlene was a believer in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was an active member of Westside Christian Church in Republic.She attended public schools in Lamar, MO as well as in California. She graduated from Lamar High School in 1958.
She attended college at Southwest Missouri State (now MSU) in Springfield MO where she received her degree in elementary education. She attended San Jose State University in California where she earned her Masters Degree.
She started teaching in country schools in the Lamar area.
In 1964 her family and she moved to Morgan Hill, California where she was employed by the Morgan Hill Unified School District for 36 years until her retirement June 1, 2000.
She taught lower elementary grades but mostly kindergarten. She always loved "the children" and missed teaching.
She also homeschooled 6 nieces and nephews after her retirement.
In 2004 she moved to Nixa MO where she lived with her two sisters Karen and Bonnie Blackmore.She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Lucile Blackmore, sister Karen Blackmore and one nephew.
She is survived by her brothers Philip Blackmore, Richard Blackmore, and Randall Blackmore, and one sister Bonnie Blackmore, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Cremation rites were accorded by Adams Crematory and arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, Missouri.
