Darlene Elizabeth Campbell, 78, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 3:16 a.m. Thursday, November 21, 2024 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
Darlene was born September 9, 1946 in Galesburg, the daughter of Robert Earl and Beulah Elizabeth (Eaker) Campbell, Sr. She married William Williamson. He preceded her in death on August 29, 2001. Darlene is survived by two sons, Troyel Campbell and Henry Simmons, both of Galesburg; two daughters, Stephanie (Dale) Ganaway of Davenport, Iowa and Marie Campbell of Galesburg; and leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Darlene is also survived by two brothers, Leon (Mary Ann) Campbell of Atlanta, Georgia and Stanley "Hack" (Jeanette) Campbell of Galesburg; and three sisters, Naomi Reidi and Estella (Elmus Wallace) Campbell both of Galesburg and Sharon (Moses) Joubert, Jr. of Sunset, Alabama. Darlene was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Campbell of May 25, 2017; two brothers, Robert Campbell, Jr. and Raymond Campbell, Sr.; and a sister, Shirley Campbell.
Darlene will be remembered as a loving and caring person who would always lend a hand to anyone in need. Her love for her family ran deep. She was the happiest being together and cooking. Her happiness and zest for life was contagious. She loved to listen to music, especially Gospel, including Lee Williams.
Cremation will be accorded. Private family services are planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
