Darlene Taylor Cook

Funeral service for Darlene Taylor Cook, 65, of Piedmont will be Monday, December 15, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Pastor Jeff Hulsey officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 p.m. until time of the service. Mrs. Cook passed away Tuesday at her home. She is survived by her grandson, Justin Wayne Fuqua (Ashlin); great-granddaughter, Ella Fuqua; six sisters, Wanda Kirk, Shelia McCarley, Dianne Cagle (Wayne), Theresa Ledbetter (Mike), Tammy Maddox (David), and Kelly Helms (Nathan); brother, Derrell "Lum" Taylor; special friend, Ray Dorsey; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Kolton McMurray, Johnny Burge, Kaleb Dransfield, Austin McMahan, Ryan Kirk, Jody McMurray, Dusty Little, and Josh McMurray. Honorary pallbearer will be Darrell "Lum" Taylor. Mrs. Cook was a native and lifelong resident of Piedmont and was of the Holiness faith. She was a 1978 graduate of Spring Garden High School where she was the salutatorian of her class. She was a devoted mother to Carla and Justin. Darlene loved animals, working in her yard, riding four wheelers and was a good cook. Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her daughter, Carla Michelle Cook Fuqua; husband, Michael Cook; son-in-law, Jerry Wayne Fuqua; and her parents Howard Lee and Sonya Taylor.
