Darlene Jeanette Cross, age 85, of Breckenridge, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Schnepp Senior Care and Rehab Center in St. Louis.
Darlene was born February 29, 1940, in Gladwin, the daughter of Ellis and Mildred (Schulert) Cuddie. She graduated from Midland Dow High School and earned her associate's degree in cosmetology. Darlene owned and operated Dar's Hair Hut and The Emporium in Breckenridge and The Hair Clinic in Ithaca. She was a member of the Breckenridge Wesleyan Church. Darlene was a very hard worker and enjoyed reading, canning, cooking and walking. She was a very happy person.
She is survived by her children Rhonda (Eric) Childs, DeeAnn (Dennis) Fleming, Michelle Cross, Jack (Susan) Cross, five grandchildren Shannon (Ivan) Foster, Derek (Courtney) Childs, Denna (Matt) Bunting, Curtis (Allissa) Cross, Kaylee Cross, eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, brothers baby Cuddie, Robert, Arnold and Ronald Cuddie.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Heartland Hospice and Schnepp Senior Care and Rehab Center for the loving care they provided Darlene.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Midland Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Lux and Whiting Funeral Chapel, Breckenridge.
