Shirley Ann Priest, age 90, of Alma passed away peacefully on Friday October 10, 2025, at her home with daughters by her side. She was born April 27, 1935, at her family's home in Coe Township, the daughter of Otto and Wilhelmina "Willy" (Giesken) Meyer.
Shirley Ann married the love of her life Shirley Merlin Priest on May 12, 1956, at Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Louis, Michigan. They were married for 69 years.
Shirley Ann worked in the offices at Leonard Refinery in Alma before she and her husband, Shirley M., started a family in 1958. Together they lovingly raised four daughters.
They took their girls on numerous vacations around Michigan; fostering a love and appreciation for nature. Shirley Ann cherished time combing the beaches for stones; a favorite activity that she passed on to her daughters.
She taught her girls to bake, to sew, to spell, as well as so much more. She encouraged them to play outside. She enjoyed playing cards and board games with them. She was fond of candybars, ice cream, ladybugs, snapdragons, and snowmen.
Shirley A. and Shirley M. enjoyed square dancing for many years. They made numerous lifelong friendships.
Shirley Ann was a wonderful friend to many. She will be greatly missed by friends and her entire family.
Shirley Ann is survived by her daughters Pam (Phanu) Amatyakul of Brighton, Judy Priest (Renee Parks) of Grand Rapids, Annette Beyersdorf (Ric Lyzen) of Mason, Susan Priest of Alma; grandchildren Matthew (Lucy) Beyersdorf, Paul Amatyakul, Janet (Tommy) Hufnagel, Kate Beyersdorf; great-grandchildren Elliott and Winifred Beyersdorf.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Shirley Merlin Priest on September 16, 2025; her parents; and her siblings Maurine Meyer, LaDona Brown, Otto J. "Junior" Meyer, Jr.
The daughters of Shirley M. and Shirley Ann would like to thank MyMichigan Hospice for their compassionate care and kindness.
Cremation has taken place with services to be held in the spring with interment in Riverside Cemetery, Alma. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma.
