Allen Bensley Stevens, age 87, of Alma passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Schnepp Senior Care and Rehab Center in St. Louis, Michigan. He was born July 17, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Elmer and Mae (White) Stevens. After graduating from high school he graduated from Alma College with a bachelor's degree in Economics. Allen married Judith Forbes on July 16, 1960, a blessed union of 57 years until her passing in 2017.
Allen was active in his community working as the Assessor for the City of Alma. He served on the Board of Directors for many years with the Alma Highland Festival, serving as announcer for many years, and served as the president in 1975. He was active with the Friends of the Alma Public Library, participating in many fund-raisers for the library, and the Gratiot County Players where he played bass in the orchestra, acted and produced many plays and musicals. He delivered for Meal on Wheels and was a past member of the Jaycees. Allen was an avid reader.
Allen is survived by his daughter Jennifer Stevens of Barrington, Rhode Island, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; his parents; and a brother and sister-in-law Lawrence and Helen Stevens.
Cremation has taken place with interment to be held at a later date in Pennington Memorial Garden. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Gratiot County Commission on Aging and Alma Public Library.
