Darlene Joy Kimball, age 67, of Menahga, MN, passed away on Monday April 15th, 2024, at the Sanford Health Center in Fargo ND.
Darlene Arola was born on September 20th, 1956, in Park Rapids, MN, to Woodrow and Harriet (Johnston) Arola. She was raised in Wolf Lake, Osage and Perham. On May 22nd, 1972, Darlene was united in marriage to Ernest Kimball. She was a homemaker, waitress, a dietitian for Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids, MN. Darlene created Bloomer's A&K Greenhouse with her mother and later, owned and operated Yards and More Inc. in Detroit Lakes, MN, until her retirement in 2010. Darlene enjoyed her many flower beds within her yard, growing hydrangeas, peonies, hostas, lilies, roses, and her favorite zinnias around the deck. Darlene also enjoyed canning vegetables from the family garden, going to the casino, playing cards, and visiting with family and friends on the weekends.
Darlene will be lovingly remembered by her three children: Michael Kimball, Sharon (Chad) Blair all of Menahga and Scott (Sasha) Kimball of Crystal, MN; her dearly loved grandchildren: Shaina Knapp, Abigail and Jackson Blair, Kailie and Dane Kimball, and Breawna Hemm; two great-grandchildren: Darren and Ethan Luedke; brother, Daryl (Carol) Arola of Grand Rapids; sisters, Diane (John) Matson, Debbie (Dale) Fisher all of Menahga; special sisters-in-law who thought of her as her real sisters, Beryl Irish, Lavelle Conger and Doreen Johnson all of Menahga, and Gail (Charles) Schoberg of Wadena; as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was proceeded in death by her husband, her son Troy, and her parents.
