Darlene Lorraine Lancaster, 73, of Hastings, Michigan, passed away June 23, 2024, at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. She was born September 18, 1950, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Merle and Virginia (Kelly) Lancaster.
Darlene was a 1968 graduate of Hastings High School. She worked several jobs including dental assistant, in the dietary department of Pennock Hospital, and at Cascade Engineering. In 2008, due to her worsening Cervical Dystonia, she retired.
Darlene loved her dogs, church, and grandkids. Shen enjoyed collecting hummingbirds, Eeyore collectables, and horse plates. She was very devoted to the Bible Missionary Church in Hastings, where she has attended since a child.
She married Wesley Pion on May 1,1971. She had her son, Sean, in July 1974 and her daughter, Shanna, in February 1979. She and Wesley divorced in June 1989.
Darlene was preceded in death by her grandmother Minnie Kelly in 1967, two brothers Gary Lancaster of Flagstaff, AZ and Jessie Lancaster of Little Rock, AR, her mother Virginia in 2008, and her father, Merle, in 2013.
She is survived by her daughter Shanna (Edward) Tanis of Ionia, her three wonderful grandchildren, Jocelyn Marie, Travis Anthony, and Christine Ivy, her son, Sean Lancaster of Hastings, her sister Carol and nephew Bryan Lancaster both of Hastings, her niece Angie (Ty Mont) Stephenson of Phoenix, AZ, and her nephews Gary Jr and Steve Lancaster also of Phoenix, AZ.
A celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the Restoration Christian Reformed Church, 708 W Main St, Middleville, Michigan. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00, with the service to follow at 11:00. Brother Buege will be giving the message of hope. The cremated ashes will be interred at Fuller Cemetery on Charlton Park Road. Arrangements by Girrbach Funeral Home. To leave an online condolence visit www.girrbachfuneralhome.net.
