Darlene E. Leslie

Darlene Elizabeth (Shahan) Leslie, of Hartly Delaware, passed away peacefully on November 4,, 2025, surrounded by her family at the age of 59 at Bayhealth Kent Campus.
Darlene was a graduate of Smyrna High School in 1984. Darlene worked for the State of Delaware Health & Social Services for 28 years where she received many distinguished awards for her proficiency.
If you knew Darlene, she was ONE of a kind. In her lifetime, Darlene was defined by her devotion to family, friends, and most of all fun ornery personality. She loved spending time with family, friends, and vacationing in the Great Smokie Mountains, taking trips to Ohio, or telling everyone about the family business Sudlersville Meat Locker. Darlene's fun ornery, giving, hardworking spirit was evident to all who knew her.
Darlene is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Jack Edward Leslie; Her mother, Jane Shahan of Clayton, De. Her brothers Donald Shahan, Jr. of Midway, Tennessee and his wife Tammy, Dennis Shahan and wife Marion of Clayton; sisters Donna Brooks of Milford, Dawna Nickerson and husband Dwayne of Hartly. Brother in Laws: Joey Leslie and wife Paula, and Billy Leslie and wife Dorothy. Many nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a great great niece. Special work besties, Leslie Turney, and Donnell Griffin. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Shahan Sr.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to thank Dr. Thomas Barnett, and Dr. Alvaro Toledo Rivera for their exceptional care at Bayhealth Kent Campus thru her hospitalizations.
A service will be held Sunday, November 9, 2025, where friends may call from 10 am to 12 pm and service begins at 12 pm at Faries Funeral Home.
