Darlene Wright, age 94, of Storm Lake, Iowa and formerly of Schaller, Iowa died January 24, 2025 at Methodist Manor in Storm Lake.
Funeral services will take place Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Schaller. Burial will be in the Schaller Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, January 27, 2025 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in SCHALLER. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller is in charge of the arrangements.
Darlene Ann Carlberg Wright was born on March 16, 1930 to Willard and Tessie Carlberg on a farm south of Schaller, Iowa.
She attended country school and then high school at Schaller and graduated in 1949. She then went on to Buena Vista College for one year in Storm Lake, Iowa and got her teaching degree. She then taught country school Cook #3 for two years. During this time she was married to Robert Wright at the Schaller United Methodist Church on June 20, 1950. They then moved to Alta, Iowa where they farmed for a short time until they moved to Schaller, Iowa. They were blessed with two daughters, Judy and Jan.
Darlene worked for Bango Central Popcorn Plant for six years and was a substitute for Jacques Seed Corn Co. She also worked for a short time at Sparkys.
On September 6, 1993 her beloved husband Bob passed away. Then in 2005 she married Frank Koth who later passed away in May of 2009.
Darlene always enjoyed being together with her family and friends. She always had the coffee pot on and cookies ready.
She so loved to bake and cook a meal for her family. Having everyone together always made her day.
Darlene moved to Methodist Manor in May of 2022.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Judy (Ted) Wall of Schaller, Iowa; grandchildren: Derek (Kendra) Wall of Schaller, Iowa; Shannon (Dave) Strand of Alta, Iowa; Shayla (Steve) Lange of Storm Lake, Iowa; great grandchildren: Zackery (Ashley Wagenaar) Sutton, Hailey Sutton, Brant (Payton Amling) Price, Tracin Price, and Sophia Lange; sister-in-law, Lois Carlberg of Schaller, Iowa; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Wright and Frank Koth; daughter, Jan Lang; son-in-law, Willie Lang; parents: Willard and Tessie Carlberg; father-in-law, Paul Wright; mother-in-law, Bertha Wright; sisters: Delores Carlberg and Vivian Anderson; brother, Marvin Carlberg; brothers-in-law: Bill Anderson, Harold Pyle and Harold Wright; sister-in-law, Virginia Pyle; several of Frank Koth's relatives; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
