Darlyne “Dee” was born to Clifford and Alice (Catteyson) Gilbertson on December 17, 1931, in Fargo, ND. She passed away September 24, 2025, at Edgewood Living Center, Grand Forks, ND. While we mourn the loss of a remarkable woman we will “Celebrate a Life” well lived on October 12, 2025, from 1-4 pm at the VFW Club in East Grand Forks, MN. A private ceremony will be held at St. Brigid of Ireland Catholic Cemetery, Cavalier, ND in the near future.

In 1945 her family moved from White Bear Lake, MN to Crookston, MN to finish her high school education. There she met and married George “Punky” Charboneau on November 20, 1948 at St Anne’s Church, Crookston, MN. With that union four children were born: Michelle “Mikki” (1949), Craig “Frenchy” (1950), Cynthia “Cyndi” (1951) and Chris “Dusty”(1952)

Dee worked at numerous businesses in the EGF/GF area. The VFW Club, River Bend County Club and Whitey’s all in EGF. She was Bar Manager at the Bronze Boot in GF.

She moved to Cavalier, ND and married Don Currie July 15, 1983, at St. Brigid’s Catholic Church. There she worked and retired from Motor Coach Industries in Pembina, ND. When they both retired, they moved to East Grand Forks, MN in 2006! Enjoying a lot of traveling!

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Don Currie; three of her children: Mikki (Jack) Wolf, Minto, ND, Cyndi (Gordy) Weber and Chris Charboneau both of East Grand Forks, MN.

She was preceded in death by her Father, Clifford (1972), her Mother, Alice (1993), Sister, Dolores Samulis Radi (1985), Son, Craig (2015) and Daughter-In -Law Lyn (Chris) Charboneau (2024).
