Darnell Leland Witherspoon Sr. passed away unexpectedly Wednesday July 30th at his home in Independence, Mo.
Darnell was born on May 3rd 1980 to Larry Lee and Michelle Lynette Witherspoon in Kansas City, Mo.
Darnell was the youngest of four children and grew up in the Kansas City area.
Darnell was a sports fan who showed off his skills playing rugby, football and basketball at Oak Park. He was educated in the Kansas City School District until he completed his business trade at Kansas City Job Corps.
He was employed with Kellogg's as a Flour System Operator where he also served as the 1st Shift Chief Steward.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Frances Chapman, maternal grandfather Ralph Chapman, great grandmother Lorene Riley, paternal grandmother paternal grandfather His sister Darneisha Witherspoon.
Darnell is survived by both parents Michelle and Larry Witherspoon, his children Cameron, A'janai, Darnell Jr., Dashanae, Amaya, Stella, Taylor and Darius. Siblings Keisa Baker and Darshawn Witherspoon. Nieces Jasmine Witherspoon and Kyra Francis. Granddaughter Amare'e Hughley and great nephew Kamari Francis-Hill. He also leaves to cherish his memory loving aunts, uncles and a host of cousins.
Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, 11:00am at Watkins Heritage Chapel. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation from 9:00am-11:00am at the chapel. Services conducted by Watkins Heritage Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Mr. Darnell, please visit our Tree Store.
