Obituary for Darrell Wayne Blevins
Darrell Wayne Blevins, 71, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the UK Medical Center in Lexington. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Darrell's life was a testament to love, faith, and quiet strength.
Born on May 4, 1954, in
Grayson, KY, he was the son of the late Robert and Kathleen Wilson Blevins. In addition to his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Bonnie Lou Carper Blevins, who passed in 2014. He was also reunited in Heaven with three sisters, Anita Porter, Brenda Hargett, and Sandra Jarvis; a brother, Ronnie Blevins; and two brothers-in-law, Larry Howard and Finley Hargett.
Darrell was a faithful attendee of New Prospect Baptist Church and carried his faith with him in his daily life. For many years, he worked as a mechanic for a trucking company in North Carolina, where his strong work ethic and mechanical skill earned him the respect of those around him. He took pride in honest work and providing for his family.
Above all, Darrell was a devoted family man. He cherished every moment spent with his children and especially his precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. Known for his warm smile and playful spirit, Darrell loved to joke and "cut up," brightening any room he entered. His laughter was contagious, and his presence comforting. In quieter moments, he found peace in listening to bluegrass gospel music, a reflection of his deep-rooted faith and Appalachian heritage.
He leaves behind a loving family who will forever treasure his memory: two sons, Chad (Barbara) Blevins of North Carolina and Michael (Tonya) Blevins of Texas; one daughter, Angela (Terry Felty) Blevins of Grayson; two sisters, Rita (Michael Newsome) Blevins of Olive Hill and Mary Howard of Sandy Hook; two brothers, John Blevins of Olive Hill and Charlie (Brenda Kiser) Blevins of Grayson; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Anita Blevins of Olive Hill; two brothers-in-law, Terry Porter of NC and Michael Jarvis of Morehead; along with a host of extended family members and dear friends who mourn his passing but celebrate his life.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson, with Bro. David Carper and Bro. Donnie Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the Horsley Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Porter, Jerry Hicks, Rob Hargett, Darren Walker, Sean Blevins, and Rob Blevins. Honorary pallbearers will be Conner Walker, Brandon Walker, Jacob Blevins, Levi Blevins, Logan Blevins, and Robert Rodriguez.
Though his earthly journey has ended, Darrell's legacy of love, laughter, faith, and family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His memory will be cherished, and his example will continue to guide those he loved so dearly. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.malonefuneralhome.com.
