Rhinebeck – Darrell L. 'Pops' Lucia, Sr., 83, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2025.
Darrell was a lifelong Rhinebeck resident. He was born October 12, 1941 in Rhinebeck, the son of Leo and Beatrice (LaBarre) Lucia.
Darrell had many occupations and pastimes; for many years he had owned and operated Quality Mobil Home Service; he also owned and managed many properties in the area, as well as always being there for anyone who needed help with a project.
He enjoyed camping, boating, fishing and anything outdoors. Darrell was involved in many organizations including The Red Hook Elks Lodge #2022, the Hyde Park Moose Lodge, The American Legion Montgomery Post #429, the Kingston Power Boat Assoc., the Red Hook Boat Club, and the Reformed Church of Rhinebeck.
Darrell is survived by his wife Barbara (Werner) Lucia of Rhinebeck; his son Darrell L. Lucia, Jr., and his wife Ellen, of Dover; daughters Stephanie Beach, and her husband Peter, of Deer Isle, ME, and Pamela Lucia of Rhinebeck. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Brian G. Lucia on March 1, 2002, and his sister Joan Purdy.
Calling hours are Tuesday, July 22nd, 4:00 to 7:00 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market st., Rhinebeck. Members of the Red Hook Elks Lodge will conduct services at 6:30 PM. Memorial services are Wednesday,11:00 AM, at the Reformed Church of Rhinebeck.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place • Memphis, TN 38105.
