Darrell Lee Phillips of Dublin OH, passed away on Friday August 23rd, 2024, at Riverside Methodist Hospital at the age of 64.

Darrell was born December 10th, 1959, in Dayton OH to the late Kelly Phillips Jr and Devonia C. Tibbs Phillips.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ferbie Ann Marcum-Phillips, brother Greg (Kathy) Phillips from Felton DE, niece, Kim Phillips, nephew, Kelly Phillips, great nieces, Quinlee and Capri, brother in laws, Julius (Judy) Marcum, Troy (Brenda) Marcum, sister in laws, Laura Bell Marcum, Hazel Jude, Jeannie Workman, Rita (Gary) Moran and Darlene (Pat) Blevins and all the Marcum’s nieces and nephews.

When Darrell was around the age of seven, his family moved and settled in Columbus OH. He graduated from Brookhaven High School in 1978 and began working at Wonder Bread Bakery alongside his father, Kelly. After 10 years, Darrell went to work for Worthington Foods until 2005 when his plant closed. From then on, he did a few jobs but found his niche in delivery work. Darrell retired at age 62 in 2022.

He met the true love of his life, Ferbie Ann Marcum, on June 23rd, 2001, and they married in Las Vegas on June 7th, 2009, remaining happily together until his passing. During his hospitalization, he expressed his gratitude to his wife, saying “Thank you for the past 23 years, Babe” as he knew his time on earth was ending.

Darrell so loved the Lord and in his last few days he prayed, read his Bible, and made notes.

Darrell was an extreme animal lover, especially dogs. His best furry friend, Harley Davidson Phillips, precedes him in death. His heart never healed from the loss of his best furry friend. Harley was his soul dog and will lay at rest with him.

Darrell’s other love was music – all genres, but Metal was his favorite. He could talk for hours on bands and each band member. He had an incredible knowledge of Rock’ n’ Roll trivia.

Viewing hours will be 3:30pm – 5:30pm Friday August 30th, 2024, at Newcomers Funeral Home, 3047 E. Dublin- Granville Road, Columbus OH, with funeral services starting at 5:30pm. Darrell will be laid to rest later in his wife’s family cemetery, Kermit WV. The Newcomer Family is honored to serve the Phillips family.
