Darrell Dewayne Strickland

STRICKLAND, Darrell "Dewayne" Strickland, 58, of Fort White, Florida passed away on October 20, 2021. He was born on December 19, 1962, in Gainesville, Florida, to the late James and Marolyn Strickland. Dewayne grew up in Gainesville where he met and married his love, Trena Flichum. Dewayne and Trena later relocated to Fort White in 1998, to raise their family. Dewayne worked in the telecommunications industry for many years where he was responsible for building and maintaining cell phone towers. His greatest achievement was his loving wife, children and grandchildren who meant the world to him. Dewayne was a hands-on dad and enjoyed watching his kids play sports. He was a travel softball coach in Fort White and in Lake City for the youth for eighteen years. Dewayne enjoyed coaching Christa and Austin throughout their childhood. Some of his fondest memories were offshore fishing in Punta Gorda with Austin, Carter and Cara. He will always be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and will forever be missed by his family and friends.
Dewayne is preceded in death by his parents, James Strickland and Marolyn Davis Strickland.
Dewayne is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Trena Strickland, children, Carter Strickland, Austin Strickland, Christa Strickland, all of Fort White, FL; and Cara Musselman (Chedis) of Punta Gorda, FL; and grandchildren, Carson Capallia and Cali Capallia of Fort White, FL. and Emma Musselman, Chloe Musselman and Ella Musselman of Punta Gorda, FL.
A Graveside Service will be held Monday, November 8, 2021, at 4:00 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Chaplain Jim Cox officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Dees-Parrish Family Funeral Home.
