Darrell Watts, age 79 passed away peacefully on Friday evening, September 6, 2024 at his home in Brown County.
Darrell was born December 2, 1944 in Hallie, KY, to his parents, the late Allard and Anna (Cornett) Watts. He retired in 2006 from Design & Build Corp. in Indianapolis where he worked as a Construction Supervisor for over 30 years. Darrell was a member of the Neighborhood Church of God in Nineveh. He enjoyed fishing, coon hunting, ginseng hunting and was often referred to as the "Mole Hunter" due to his ability to get rid of them. Darrell was a fan of all sports, especially University of Kentucky Basketball and Football. His greatest joy was watching his grandson play baseball and basketball.
In addition to his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by siblings, Jay, Ira Lee, Hillard, Vennis, Fred and Kalon Watts.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Edith L. (Slone) Watts, whom he married on August 10, 1973 in Columbus. Darrell is also survived by his daughter, Crystal (Scott) Pritchard of Columbus; grandchildren, Cameron Watts-Pritchard of Columbus and Michael Pritchard of Morgantown; siblings, Farlon (Betty) Watts, Kenneth (Ronda) Watts, Allard Jr. (Darlene) Watts, Mavis (Ernest) Watts, Sherlene (Eddie) Spangler and Elvenia (Larry) Boggs; and several nieces and nephews.
Pastor Rodney Walker will conduct a funeral service on Wednesday, September 11th at 12 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
