Darrell Lee Wayt, 69, of Rootstown passed away on August 21st, 2025. He was born June 7th, 1956, and has called Rootstown home for 20 years. Darrell will be remembered for his quick wit and ability to make others laugh. He graduated from West Branch High School in 1974 and went on to serve in the United States Army for 4 years. He was hired by the Alliance Fire Department in April 1985 where he served in many roles, retiring as a lieutenant in 2006. He was a member of the American Legion, enjoyed riding his Harley, and loved his slow mornings at the dog park with his fur boys, Charlie and Harley.
Darrell is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Wayt, who has been by his side for 31 years, grandsons Matthew Wayt, Johnathin Myers, and Gabe McNeely, brothers Jim (Linda) Wayt, Dean (Ann) Wayt, Mark (Donna) Wayt, George (Judy) Wayt, Terry (Laurie) Wayt, sisters Sharon Casher and Melissa Yost, father and mother in-law Steve and Elaine Skolosh, brothers in-law Mark (Jenny) Skolosh, Bob (Lizbeth) Skolosh, Bill Lovell, Mike (Kellie) Skolosh and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by special friends, the Cherry Hill crew, who he shared countless late nights and laughs with. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother in-law Ron Skolosh, sister in-law Cheryl Lovell, and several special fur kids.
Michelle will find peace knowing that Darrell is riding his Harley into the sunset with Miles, Milroy, and Sebastian at his side once more.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 26, 2025, 5-7 pm with a funeral service and military honors starting at 7 pm at Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home, Louisville. Food and fellowship will be held directly after services at Sacred Heart of Mary in the Belden Hall.
